You wake up in the morning and just can’t seem to get yourself out of bed. When you do, all you can muster the energy for is turning on Netflix. We have all had days like this. As an independent sales rep, you get discouraged. That’s okay. When it happens two days in row, you’re depressed and feel like you just need to get through this season of life and things will magically get better. You have convinced yourself that if you just survive, you will be successful.
To a certain extent this is true. Survival is key to success but it doesn’t produce success. If you want your life to be different, you have to make it different by taking action. One of my favorite statements goes like this, “Success is on the same road as failure; it is just a little further down the road.” Notice in this statement that if you stop at failure, you never reach success. You must keep going.
Many of you had a tough year in 2015. Some of you had a brutal year! You may have confronted failure head on this year, but let me ask you a question. Are you still stuck in survival mode from that failure? Have you justified your inaction because of hard times? It is time for you to get up one more time, dust yourself off and keep pressing forward towards your goals.
Here are a few facts you should keep in mind:
#1 – Someone who is in the same or worse situation than you will succeed in 2016. You can be sure that there will be someone who will set ambitious goals for themselves this next year that will hit them.
#2 – If you gave 100% of your energy and effort towards improving your life in 2016, you would be better off this time next year.
#3 – No matter what you do in 2016 or how badly you may fail again, the odds are probably good that this time next year you will have food to eat, a house to live in and people who care about you. With this in mind, what do you really have to lose?
If this post has motivated you to get up and move forward, don’t miss our biggest live event of the year on January 4th, 2016 at 7pm EST where we will be rolling out our updated Jump Start Program to help you set goals and achieve them in 2016. Honestly, even if you have no interest in the payment processing business, this interactive event will help you clarify your goals for 2016 and set realistic action steps that are achievable next year.
I am very, very excited about 2016!!!! I was just finishing up 3 business plans that separate my personal goals for our business into three different segments and I am ready to start marching towards our goals! Are you ready?
Make it a great day,
James Shepherd
